Why Have Secure Document Destruction Control Your e-Waste?

The United Nations Environment Program estimates that each year 20 - 50 million tonnes of e-waste is produced worldwide. This number is increasing rapidly.
When people don't know how to dispose of their computers, they often throw them out with the rubbish. What is not realised is that this e-waste goes into landfill and may leach toxic chemicals into the environment. A healthier more environmental friendly way to dispose of it is to have it properly recycled.
Rapid technology change, low initial cost and even planned obsolescence have resulted in a fast growing problem around the globe.
People are increasingly aware that computers, cell phones and other electronics contain chemicals such as cadmium, lead and mercury. Unless properly recycled, these chemicals can make their way from landfills into our soil, water and air.
Environmentally and financially it has never been so important to manage e-waste in a proper and correct manner as it is today. Decrease your carbon footprint, recycle your old computers, keyboards etc.
When trying to do the right thing, people often donate their used computers to companies that provide computers to the developing world. This just transfers the problem of disposal to communities unable to afford proper disposal or with no means of doing so. Uncontrolled burning, disassembly, and disposal are causing environmental and health problems. This also includes negative occupational health and safety effects among those directly involved, due to the methods of processing the waste.
